Spring Break Plans

So I know Spring Break is forever away, but I am so excited for it to come! This week I found out we are going to Chicago for about four days. Chicago has been a place that I have wanted to go to in the United States, along with New York and L.A. My mom called me on Tuesday to ask if I had plans for spring break, and when I said I didn't, she asked if I wanted to go to Chicago! The first thing I asked though was, are we driving or flying? We have driven to pretty much every major vacation! New Mexico (once) to go skiing, Florida (twice) to go to the beach, Washington D.C (once) three days in the car, and North Dakota (three times) to visit family! Which is why when she said we would be flying I was even more excited! I have only flown twice in my life, once to Florida to go to Disney World and to Europe. I think we are just going to site see and maybe see a show! It would be incredibly awesome to go see Oprah, but I know you have to be on a waiting list for like a year or qualify for one of her shows! A Broadway show would also be amazing to see! Apart from going to Europe last year, this trip is going to be one of the greatest vacations I have taken. I love going snow skiing and to the beach, but I am not very good at skiing and I'm deathly afraid of going to far in the water at the beach because I seriously have a big phobia of sharks. So when I go to big cities I can shop, and those vacations are really my favorite vacations! Paris had amazing shopping and I have heard Chicago too has great stores! So only what six more months! Something to look forward to!

So much to do... So little time!

Is any one else feeling they have so much to do for the rest of the semester? Right now I am trying to cram for two test that I have tomorrow, Art and Math. After my tests tomorrow I need to fit the study session into my schedule for my history midterm on Tuesday. I also have to go to this presentation for my University Seminar class tomorrow evening. I have about ten pages of notes to type and about 20 pages to read for history. This weekend will be devoted to studying for my history midterm for Tuesday. Then I have the upcoming English rough draft paper, assuming along with the rest of you, on Halloween night, and then the final copy on Friday. That is just the itinerary for the next two weeks.

The rest of the semester is shaping up to look like this:
  • I have a presentation on the 7th of November
  • I need to go to four more events for my University Seminar class by the 21st
  • Write five journal assignments for University Seminar over the five different events I will have to attend by the 21st
  • two more paper for English papers; one that I will have to write the rough draft for over Thanksgiving break.
  • Including tomorrow's tests, I have two tests each in art and math
  • Another paper I will have to write for University Seminar
  • I need to attend a cultural event for art then write a review over it by the 17th.
  • Then the glorious finals, one for each class

Just when I thought the semester was drawing to a close, oh no, I realize all the work that is still ahead of me. Every time I am not studying, reading, or typing notes I feel as though there is something I have to do. I am getting really stressed out especially over my two tests tomorrow that I am still not 100% prepared for. Wish me luck, and I wish everyone else the same luck who are going through the same work load as I am!

A Weekend at Home

So I went home this weekend, first time in about a month, and I had such a good time. I caught up with some of my old friends and my brother also came home (he lives in Dallas) so I got to see him as well. My parents got back from New Port, Rhode Island and brought us back some really cool things from there, like a t-shirt, candle, and other neat souvenir items. I seemed to have gone to almost every Aggie sports event this weekend. If I wanted to hang with my old friends who now go to A&M it seemed I had to go to a sporting event. Friday night I went to the women's soccer game, Saturday my brother's girlfriend's mom (kind of confusing) had tickets to go see the Texas vs. A&M club hockey game, and today I went to the women's lacrosse championship game (because I knew someone playing). I also listened to the football game on the radio Saturday night. A&M won all their games too this weekend. The hockey game was really fun too. I had never been to a hockey game before, my brother was probably getting annoyed with all of my questions. We beat Texas 2 to 1. I missed a lot of our local restaurants in College Station. I went to one of the best burger place around called Koppe Bridge and had an amazing cheeseburger with the world's best fries. Oh and while we were there we watched the end of the Texas and Nebraska game, and being an Aggie at heart I was really upset Nebraska lost! Another wonderful thing about going home is my mom's baking. Whenever I go home she always makes something for me to take back with me. This time she made Special K bars. Finally, one of the greatest parts of going home was seeing my dog!

I loved the weather today! Fall is my favorite season when it starts to get cold. I love the color of the trees and seeing the leaves fall. Football season is in the fall; I love Saturday college football. Fall also has two seasons Halloween and Thanksgiving. I love wearing sweaters and jackets and bundling up in blankets. I also tend to go through a lot of hot chocolate in the fall. I love hot chocolate! I only wish it got colder in Texas, but I still love it here! So I'm really excited about the new movies coming out. This week has been a pretty easy week, aside from the five page essay I had to right for Tuesday's History class. My Art test that was supposed to be tomorrow got pushed back to next week. I had my bowling midterm today, but all I had to do was know how to keep score. Once you learn and practice how to keep score, it's really easy to do. So I think I aced that test. This week has just flown by, and now I am ready for the weekend! I get to drive home to College Station right after my art class. I should be home by 4:30 in the afternoon.

So I haven't gone home in a about a month, but I am going home this weekend. I am very excited! I haven't seen my high school friends that stayed at home to go to A&M in an even longer amount of time because I didn't get to see them the last time I went home. To many things were going on. My best friend, from home, is going skydiving for the second time this Saturday, but it's the first time I will get to watch her. It should be interesting. My parents are in New Jersey right now visiting my uncle, and man I would trade everything to be there right now. I talked to my mom since they got there and she said they were going to bring souvenirs back for my brother and me. I'm excited to see what they are going to bring back for us. I miss my dog. I am hoping he hasn't forgotten about me or mad at me because I left him. I am also in desperate need to take home a lot of my out of season clothes and switch them for my fall clothes. On Friday, I'm hoping to go see Marie Antoinette; the previews look amazing. I watched Kirsten Dunst on Regis and Kelly this morning and she was talking about the movie. Yes I am addicted to Regis and Kelly. I try to watch it whenever I can. Random note: I went to the gym today and took the Cats Crunch class for the second time, and I absolutely love it and recommend it. After the class is over every muscle of my body feels like it was worked. The best part is that the class only lasts for 15 minutes then your done. Only three more days of this week then I can go home, and another random note is that Thanksgiving Break is only four weeks away after this week, then finals, and then Christmas Break. This semester is just flying by.

Procrastination

So I have been trying to write a history paper all weekend that is due on Tuesday, but I can't seem to actually sit down and start writing it. It's supposed to be five pages so I want to start it early, but it seems to be getting later and later. It's almost 4:00 p.m on Sunday and I still haven't started it. Yesterday I got distracted by the A&M and Missouri game. Since I am from College Station, I am naturally a huge Texas A&M fan! Missouri was undefeated and we beat them 25-19! I was so excited. Then after the game I just hung out with friends and went to dinner then watched a movie. Today has been kind of crazy because I woke up to our EXIT sign, in our hall way, constantly beeping, and then I realized our dorm didn't have power. So I couldn't start my paper then. Now I just keep finding a million better things to do then to actually sit down and write. I am shooting for around 6 o'clock to start. I will see!

I saw two movies this weekend! Saturday night I saw The Departed while I was visiting my brother and cousins in Dallas, and the other movie I saw tonight in Austin, The Last Kiss. Both of these movies were wonderful, and I recommend seeing them.

The Departed has a wide cast with many well-known actors. Jack Nicholson, Matt Damon, Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Wahlberg, and Alec Baldwin were just a few. This movie is an extremely violent movie, with a little humor, and a little suspense. It's abput these two characters who are undercover, one as a police man and the other in the Irish Mafia. What I liked most about this movie was the well thought out plot. The whole synopsis of the movie was awesome. I would explain more of what it is about, but it might give details away. If you go to see this movie that you do, get through the first twenty min, then it will start to make since. I was really confused in the beginning, but by the end it all comes together. Just to be warned the movie is rated R so if you go to see it with relatives (parents) some scenes may be slightly awkward, and this film is also very gory and graphic. This movie is also about two and half hours long.

The second movie, somewhat of a chick flick, but not quite, was The Last Kiss, which was also a fantastic movie. I didn't like how the movie seemed to just cut off at the end, but Zack Braff does a really good job with it. This movie will make you angry, sad, and happy all at the same time. Rachel Bilson also does a really good job at acting, in my opinion, but her character is a little naughty, and just to be warned if you like this actress (like I do), be prepared that you may not like her in this movie. The music in this film is also wonderful, and I know I will probably buy the soundtrack! Again this movie is also rated R, so if you are seeing it with relatives (parents) some scenes might be extremely awkward!

I Hate Paper Thin Walls

I have learned to live in a dorm...I have gotten used to the extreme temperatures of the showers, the crickets hoping all over my room, and the limited amount of space in my room split by my roommate. However, there is one major problem in Elliott the walls are way too thin.

It's nine o'clock on a week night and I'm studying just like every night, and then I hear her, a girl that lives in the room right next to mine. Every night at what seems to be the exact moment I start studying this girl, who should remain nameless, is on the phone with this guy, who I assume is her boyfriend. Not only is she just talking with him, if that were the case I wouldn't hear her, she is either yelling at him or whining to him, and sometimes even starts whaling and crying to him. It is so annoying, and it seems as the conversation continues her voice gets progressively louder and louder. These fights too, are stupid petty fights. The other night she was arguing about him coming inside. She wanted him to come inside and he wanted her to go outside. That was the whole conversation, it lasted probably 15 min.

This morning I was sleeping in just like every normal Thursday, it's the only day I do not have eight o'clock class, and I found out it is not only her annoying, loud, late night phone calls that bother me, but her inconsiderate behavior. At nine o'clock in the morning she decided it would be fun to blast her music. I was so pissed. I wanted to sleep in until at least 10:30, I don't have class until 12:30 on Thursdays. Of course I couldn't go back to sleep.

Dorms are really not bad, unless you get stuck with the most obnoxious hall mate ever! Tonight of course, isn't any different. She is in her room yelling, whining, and crying to her boyfriend! Oh how fun!

I'm so excited about this weekend! I'm driving with my two cousins (who go to UT) to Dallas to do many things. First to see my brother who lives in Plano, Texas (a suburb of Dallas). Second to see my cousins who live in McKinney, Texas (another suburb of Dallas). Third to go to Dallas's State Fair. I've never been, but heard its really fun. There is entertainment, food, and rides. Here is the link: http://www.bigtex.com/. Fourth just to have a weekend of fun. The best part is going to be how we are going to fit my parents, my two cousins, a friend, and me into my brother's one bedroom apartment! It should present a challenge. Only three more days. One of those days I get to take two tests :)! Today was a pretty good day. I went to my 8 o'clock class, came back to my dorm and took a two hour nap until my next class at 12:30, which is bowling, and then went to my final class at 3:30. I got really excited in my bowling class because not only did I bowl a 126 (which is very good for me), but my team also beat our opponent team which gave us three points for the day. Three more days.

Another Weekend in San Marcos

I stayed in San Marcos this weekend, and had a pleasant time! I discovered many things. On Friday I went to dinner with some friends. We wanted to find new places to eat so we spent time walking around the square then decided to eat at the Hill Country Grill. It was really good... a little on the pricey end, however. I enjoyed a really good chicken fettuccine Alfredo pasta. Saturday, I met up with some friends that came up from my hometown. We again explored the city. We went to the outlet mall then dinner later that night. As we were driving home from dinner, I discovered not only do we have thousands of crickets, we also have bats. Yes nocturnal flying bats. After seeing this I was a little spooked, then I also realized that I had yet to go to the Pike House so we went. We ended up going around like 3 in the morning which for some reason made it even more scary. Creepy house. Today, I ended the weekend by doing housekeeping chores in my dorm. I reorganized some of the areas that were quite a bit messy and spent six dollars by doing four loads of laundry (washing and drying). Then decided to get caught up on my studying. It was a fun and interesting weekend.
